Letter From Our President

Dear Cambridge Youth Lacrosse Community,

Welcome to our 2019 season!

It's hard to believe, but we're five years into this adventure and we couldn't be prouder of the state of CYL. Each year has been stronger than the last! We started out as a small group of parents looking just to play lacrosse IN Cambridge and have quickly grown into a robust community of over 220 boys and girls and their amazing families. The icing on this cake is that we are now beginning to see athletes that have graduated from our program trickle up to our local high school lacrosse teams.

GO FALCONS!

Big thanks to Alex McFerran for serving as president of Cambridge Youth Lacrosse since day one. He is stepping down to spend more time teaching and coaching the game that he loves so much ... with CYL of course! You know, more play, less admin! With that said, here are some organizational details that we would like to share.

Our Contacts

Our website is a great resource. Use it. Share it.
http://www.cambridgeyouthlacrosse.org

We have a social presence on both facebook and twitter. Help grow CYL by sharing your experiences and media.

Feel free to contact us anytime with questions or concerns via email at play @ cambridgeyouthlacrosse.org. We will get back to you promptly!

Our Athletes

It should go without saying that Cambridge Youth Lacrosse only exists for the betterment of our athletes. The goal of CYL is to enable any child wishing to play lacrosse in Cambridge to do so regardless of experience or resources. We believe in hard work, team camaraderie, sportsmanship, and having fun! If any of these beliefs do not come naturally to your athlete, that's OK, we will learn their value together. This is the beauty of using sport for not only fun and health reasons, but also to teach life lessons and social dynamics.

Our Coaches

Our coaches are made up of parents, teachers, students, former players, and new fans that love lacrosse. Most importantly though, our coaches are ALL passionate volunteers. Please recognize their efforts and support them as much as possible.

Our Parents/Guardians/Friends

Teams accomplish more than individuals. Here are some ways that you can join our team to strengthen Cambridge Youth Lacrosse:

  • Coach/Assistant Coach
  • Help behind the scenes with operations
  • Provide team practice and game snacks
  • Donate funds or equipment
  • Help spread the word at school, online, and in your neighborhood
  • Join the Board of Directors

If you are interested in volunteering, check out our listing of needs here:

Or better yet, let us know your time availability and skill set and we will work with you to find a mutually beneficial match given your real life constraints.

Registration

Spring 2019 registration is open through February 11th, 2019.

You can register for the 2019 spring season here:
www.cambridgeyouthlacrosse.org/registration.html

Our season starts with indoor practice the weekend of March 23rd.

Weather permitting, our first league games are on Sunday, March 31st.

Danehy Park serves as our primary practice and gameday field space. Parking is most easily accessed via New Street or Fern Street entrances.

In the meantime, work hard at your winter sports and if you have some extra time, spend 10min cradling or working toward your wall ball challenge goals.

Equipment

If you have the means to purchase equipment for your son or daughter, please do so. We recommend purchasing new equipment at the DICK'S Sporting Goods store in Medford, MA. They run a special 20% off day for Cambridge Youth Lacrosse on March 23rd and 24th. Also, if you go to our DICK'S Sporting Goods sponsor page and click on the lower left hand banner, there are a number of additional 10% off coupons.

If you do not have the means to purchase equipment for your athlete, don't worry. There will be equipment available for loan at our Equipment Swap Day scheduled for mid-March prior to the start of the season. Stay tuned for specifics...

Donations

A tax-deductible donation to Cambridge Youth Lacrosse can really help us in our mission to promote the growth of both boys and girls lacrosse right here in Cambridge! Through your generous contribution, you will be partnering with us in providing financial assistance to our players in need, keeping our out-of-season fall and summer programs FREE to the community, and acquiring game and protective equipment.

Give what you can. Give what you feel! We appreciate ALL levels of support!

You can donate online here:
