Letter From Our President

Dear Cambridge Lacrosse Community,

Welcome to the 2017 season!

We are thrilled to launch youth lacrosse, the fastest game on two feet, in the city of Cambridge. We look forward to getting to know all of you and your children over the next few months.

There are a few important details that I want to lay out up front.

Our web site - http://www.cambridgeyouthlacrosse.org has many other details.

Your Children

Your children are the reason that Cambridge Youth Lacrosse exists. We expect your children to work hard, to be good sports, and to have fun. We are an inclusive community, and if your son or daughter wants to play regardless of experience or skill level or equipment, we want your daughter or son to play, and she or he should expect to play a lot.

Our Coaches

Our coaches are lovers of the game of lacrosse and are volunteers. Please support them vigorously.

There are many ways you can help including:

  • Being an assistant coach
  • Bringing snacks to practices
  • Helping with Cambridge Youth Lacrosse administrative activities
  • Donating equipment or funds (see below)

If you are interested in volunteering, please let me know.

My cell phone is 857-253-8836, and my email address is alex @ cambridgeyouthlacrosse.org.

If you have the means and the desire to purchase equipment for your son or daughter, please do so.

We recommend purchasing equipment from the following:

  • DICK'S Sporting Goods is having a special 20% off day for Cambridge Youth Lacrosse on Saturday, March 25th and 26th at their Dedham, MA store. Also, if you go to our DICK'S Sporting Goods sponsor page and click on the lower left hand banner, there are a number of 10% off coupons.
  • Modell’s is also having a 15% off team weeks discount, which runs from March 31st - April 28th, 2017
  • We are trying to gin up other discounts as well. Pure Hockey/ComLax is another good place to purchase equipment.

If you do not have the means or desire to purchase equipment for your son or daughter, don’t worry. There will be equipment available.

One of the challenges of starting an inclusive program that requires equipment to play is making sure that there is enough equipment so that everyone can play.

We need equipment.

If you have the means to donate used or new equipment or funds (that will be used to procure equipment), please bring the equipment to our next practice, or please make a tax-deductible donation on our website at www.cambridgeyouthlacrosse.org/donate.html.

We run a lean ship, and the funds will be used to procure equipment. We greatly appreciate your support!

Sign-up and Next practice

Weather permitting, our Spring 2017 season will begin on April 1st at 10am at Danehy Park.

Fields and parking are most easily accessed via New Street entrance.

You can sign up for the spring season at: www.cambridgeyouthlacrosse.org/registration.html.

All participants in Cambridge Youth Lacrosse are required to be members of US Lacrosse, the sport’s governing body. This year, we are integrating US Lacrosse registration directly into our own program registration.

If you have any questions or would like to talk things through, please let me know.
