Our once-a-week Fall Lacrosse Skills Development Program runs September 15th through October 27th!
Our fall program emphasizes age-appropriate fundamental lacrosse skill development, structured games, and scrimmages for both boys and girls, ages 6-15. The program is run by our amazing group of spring team coaches. Let’s shake off some of the rust, continue to develop skills for the spring, and have lots of fun out there!
Sessions are FREE and 100% OPTIONAL. Fall sessions should be attended in addition to your fall sports. We are strong believers in multi-sport athletics, so join us whenever you're not on the ice or another field. Fall sessions are scheduled to minimize conflicts with your athlete's traditional fall sports commitments.
Prior experience playing lacrosse is NOT REQUIRED. However, players are required to have proper equipment.
If acquiring equipment poses an undue hardship, please contact us at needequipment @ cambridgeyouthlacrosse.org or ask a coach at any practice session for more information on equipment availability and our lending policies.
Families that borrow equipment from CYL are responsible for returning all borrowed equipment at the end of each season. Any lost or broken items will be subject to appropriate replacement costs.

Cambridge Youth Lacrosse (CYL) will be offering the following options for the 2024 Spring season:
Based on age group, each Girls (FGLL) and Boys (MYL) team will:
Program runs outdoors March 25th – June 15th, weather permitting.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
We will be fielding teams in these age groups:
Under 9 | 1st & 2nd Grade |
Under 11 | 3rd & 4th Grade |
Under 13 | 5th & 6th Grade |
Under 15 | 7th & 8th Grade |
* If a team option is not available for your peer group, we will make our best effort to place you on an appropriate team. |
Teams will be filled on a first come, first served basis. However, we will add additional teams by age group if the numbers support it.
Our Saturday Co-Ed development and skills program for both boys and girls 7 years old and younger emphasizes:
Program runs Saturdays, April 13th – June 15th, weather permitting, starting 10am at Danehy Park.
Prior experience playing lacrosse is NOT required!
Duration of sessions will be based on parent input and the stamina/attention span of this year's "flock" of Future Falcons.
Depending on numbers, we will schedule one-off scrimmages with other programs as parents see fit.
We look to field both U13(5th & 6th Grade) and U15(7th & 8th Grade) boys Select teams in the spring. Our Select teams offer 7 additional weekly games + playoffs for those interested in participating at a high-level against very competitive teams. Interested players will be evaluated in mid-March prior to the season.
Only players demonstrating the highest levels of skill, athleticism, attitude, and commitment will qualify for these rosters. Select games are in addition to our normal Sunday gameday schedule and are scheduled by the league on either Friday or Saturday evenings. Select players are REQUIRED by MYL to play both "classic" town AND Select games.
A separate Select team registration IS NOT required. Simply inform your coach of your interest and you will be included in pre-season tryouts!
Rostered Select team players will be responsible for their equal share of MYL Select team league expenses (i.e., $1,245 per 2024 MYL Select team) for refs, scheduling, team equipment, etc... Select fees due after second game - Financial aid available. We divide Select expenses up this way to keep costs as low as possible for our families. Other towns charge a separate upfront "Select team" fee of between $150-250.
We will field FGLL select teams IF there is enough demand.
NOTE: Playing Select lacrosse requires a deeper commitment to team, coaches, and teammates. We expect our Select players to make all practices and games and complete simple weekly lacrosse "homework" assignments. All planned absences (e.g., school conflicts, vacations) need to be communicated responsibly with coaches well in advance. Failure to do so will impact playing time and roster placement.

Lacrosse is a great game, and our coaching philosophy starts with the belief that playing lacrosse is fun for everyone. If your son or daughter is interested in playing lacrosse, whether he or she is just beginning or has been playing for years, we hope they will play with CYL. We want your boys and girls to work hard, to learn some skills, to run around, to play fair, to make some friends, and to take some risks. There are a ton of new and challenging situations we will put your children through, and as they go through these situations and sometimes succeed and sometimes fail, we will support them relentlessly, and in the process, they will gain new confidence and have a ton of fun.
